Fast 2 Fit #5: You [Prophet SAW], enfolded in your cloak!

Those are the very first verse of Surah Al Muzammil.
You [Prophet], enfolded in your cloak!
Quran 73:1
Growing up, for as long as I can remember. Moms, Aunts, and Grandmas of the neighborhood will gather up in homes for an afternoon. And read Surah Al Muzammil.
Someone they knew was sick with a serious incurable disease and was not getting better, Someone else had problems with the government, someone else had business problems, another one was not able to get a job, or not doing well financially, there was a sister, whose brother was getting older by the day and just was not able to get married.
I had heard all of these stories of hardships, and difficulties of people all around the city from my Mom. Some of these people she knew personally, and sometimes it was people they did not know, it was friends of their friends. This is a verse in the last Ayah of Surah al Muzammil.
Whatever good you store up for yourselves will be improved and increased for you.
Quran 73:20
She and some other neighbors would gather up in one of the homes, sometimes in the living room of my home as well. And they will read Surah Al Muzammil and ask Allah to ease whatever hardship that family was facing.
The idea was if you recite Surah Muzammil Allah will make the hardships go away.
Continuing the thoughts from my last post about Dua and ease. We are so busy hustling and solving our problems ourselves. That any other way does not make sense to our modern practical minds. I am sure some of you reading might question if what this group of women, in a small town in India practiced, was the way to ease other people’s hardships. And all of these things are Bi’dah and have no roots in Islam or Quran. I hear you, but continue reading what Allah (SWT) said in the Surah Al Muzammil, before deciding how on Allah SWT")’s earth would this be not good for you.
I have not checked the root of why people around town were gathering and reading this important Surah and Asking Allah to ease the hardships of friends and strangers. But I know that what they did (and still do to this day) is the most ultimate test of one’s faith and belief in the unseen. Belief in Allah(SWT) - that no matter what happens Allah (SWT) will make it right.
Allah (SWT) says in Surah Al Muzammil
He is Lord of the east and west, there is no god but Him, so take Him as your Protector, Patiently endure what they say, ignore them politely,
Quran 73:9,10
I am reading this as the strengthening of faith and belief in the face of difficulty and hardship. The same belief that makes you believe in Allah, even if you have never seen Allah (SWT). Leave all things to Allah (SWT), And Trust that What Allah(SWT) will do is just.
Also read that again - Ignore them Politely. Turn away from the unjust, but in a worthy, noble way; i.e., to show them clearly that you do not fear them, but that you leave all affairs in Allah's hands. How easy it is in these days of social media to laugh, show anger, and comment, and not only that we screenshot to share those comments on our own social media to think over, and perpetuate it even more, instead of leaving it alone and ignoring it politely.
Allah SWT goes on to say
And leave to Me those who deny the truth and live in luxury. Bear with them for a little while;
Quran 73:11
While we want to deal with all of our problems alone. This Ramadan, give it a try. Leave some things to Allah (SWT). And Believe. When someone tries to argue with you, ignore them politely. When someone tries to make it difficult for you at home, work, school, or business. Do not react at all and try to Ignore them politely.
And above all, Believe. Have the faith that Allah (SWT) will solve it for you, whatever problems were to occur.
Conclusion
Finally, the last verse of Surah Al Muzammil mentions how the nighttime Tahajjud prayers were made optional upon Muslims. Allah (SWT) knew it will be difficult for humankind, so Allah said - so recite as much of the Qur_an as is easy for you. ….. recite as much as is easy for you, keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, and make God a good loan. Whatever good you store up for yourselves will be improved and increased for you. Ask God for His forgiveness, He is most forgiving, most merciful.
This, I Believe. Right here is the essence of Islam. Learn from Quran. As much as it is easy for you. Pray. Help the Poor. And ask for forgiveness from Allah (SWT).
Here is the Ayah in its entirety.
[Prophet], your Lord is well aware that you sometimes spend nearly two-thirds of the night at prayer––sometimes half, sometimes a third––as do some of your followers. God determines the division of night and day. He knows that you will not be able to keep a measure of it and He has relented towards all of you, so recite as much of the Qur_an as is easy for you. He knows that some of you will be sick, some of you travelling through the land seeking God’s bounty, some of you fighting in God’s way: recite as much as is easy for you, keep up the prayer, pay the prescribed alms, and make God a good loan. Whatever good you store up for yourselves will be improved and increased for you. Ask God for His forgiveness, He is most forgiving, most merciful.
